LaserCodeTM
Spectra Systems' LaserCode Textile ID System provides all the advantages of automated identification while overcoming many of the problems and costs of using alternative technologies such as bar code and RFID. LaserCode labels, read using our VeriCam data terminal, offer the same coding benefits as standard bar codes with the added benefit of greater readability in harsh environments or when badly soiled. Each label contains a series of lines that emit one of several wavelengths to represent a unique number. Since the label emits wavelengths of light rather than reflecting incoming light, as with bar codes, they are highly tolerant of soiling and wash fading.
LaserCode labels are printed with fluorescent inks developed by Spectra Systems for use with standard commercial dot matrix printers, traditional printing methods or ink jet printing systems (currently under development). Each cartridge holds three distinct optically activated inks and conventional black ink for printing man readable information.
Flexible Label Printing
LaserCode can be printed on many different types of label substrate. For textile applications LaserCode labels are printed on durable thermal seal stock (1"x3") and are attached with standard heat seal equipment. In the future, LaserCode will be able to be printed directly onto products, thanks to its high tolerance to distortion by rough surfaces, such as bags, lumber, rubber, etc.
